st. patty's weekend

hello hello! i hope everyone had a safe and happy st. patrick's day/weekend! here's how we celebrated:

stout fest 2013 at goose island (clybourn location). chester managed to get our tickets before the event sold out in mere minutes. i'm so glad that he did b/c this event was amazing! i've mentioned that i've been getting into different stouts before (here on the blog), and it was really great to taste these new-to-me flavors on tap. here is what i tried:

my favorites were definitely the bourbon county stouts, specifically the blackberry & the apple brandy. i also really enjoyed london fog and d-day. heck, i loved them all! 

are any of you on untappd? trust me, the last thing i need is to be on another social networking app, but chester got me on this one and it's pretty cool. that's where the screen grabs above came from.

i downloaded the dbl cam app last week and tried it out on saturday. it takes a photo from the rear facing camera first, then immediately after it takes a photo from the front facing camera. it's a cool idea, and some of the shots i've seen by other users are pretty cool.

after stout fest and a much needed nap, we headed out to the beer market in vernon hills for my best friend dana's 30th birthday. it ended up being the perfect bar for her party since it wasn't crowded and the people there weren't totally drunk/obnoxious like in most bars this weekend. i picked up this disposable camera at UO and we had fun trying it out. 

we ripped off the cardboard packaging on the camera so each shot would be a surprise. and most of the text lined up awesomely with the photos :)

my trip to la jolla, ca

at the end of january, i traveled to san diego for a video shoot. and as luck would have it, we had some extra downtime after the shoot, since we weren't flying back to chicago until the next morning. my boss and i drove down to la jolla and took photos for a few hours by the beach. (his shots turned out amazing! be sure to check them out).

i was excited with the fisheye photos, it was my first time shooting with color film in that camera (my first roll was b&w). i forgot that i didn't have color film loaded into my diana mini, so i was a little disappointed with the roll... but they still turned out pretty ;)

i had a lot of fun messing around with the HDR options in Camera+, as well as combining filters from different apps. the shot looking down from the airplane window looks so photoshopped, but i swear it's not! haha. and those seals cracked me up! lazy dudes.

i'm still here!

it's been a while since my last post, and i've kept quite busy over the last few weeks. i have also been trying to "disconnect" a little bit on the weekends. it's become second nature to check my iphone every now & then, and i almost miss the time when i didn't have a smart phone (not that long ago actually). so i'm trying to resist the urge to check twitter & facebook so frequently, and actually enjoy the company of those around me :)

i had a photo adventure memorial day weekend and finally dug up some of my film cameras. i finished quite a few rolls from forever ago, and thought i would share my favorites:

in flight from las vegas back home to chicago last october.

i almost forgot i still had these photos! snowpocalypse 2011!

and these are recent, roaming around abandoned areas with kristin.

the main reason for the photo adventure was shoot portraits/headshots for a friend. i'm still working and editing those photos, but i'll share them here soon.

my next post will be more structured, but i just wanted to pop in and say hello! oh, totally random, but if you haven't heard of/checked out epic meal time's youtube channel, do it. seriously. it's hilarious. my friends and i actually watched every single video one night. "that's smart!"
